Musical Studies

The Music Department of Pro Arte Alphen Park is a small, but busy department, and most of the time a performance or concert is happening somewhere, or is in the pipeline.

Ex-learners of Pro Arte Alphen Park who are well-known musicians today, include Gérard Korsten (violin), Alma Oosthuizen (soprano), Jean-Louise Moolman (viola), Robert Pickup (clarinet), André Swanepoel (violin), Cobus Swanepoel (cello), Petronel Malan (piano), Stephen Pierce (pianor), Salomé Wepener (piano), Cobus du Toit (flute), Anzél Gerber (cello), Herman Jordaan (organ) en Hanli Stapela (soprano).

The Music Department of Pro Arte Alphen Park has achieved a lot during the past year. Apart from the normal school activities, there were concerts, competitions, external examinations, eisteddfods – a music learner is truly never bored!

  • Sunel Vosloo (Franse horing)
  • Thembi Maswanganye (viool 1)
  • Itumeleng Seema (altviool)
  • Hye-Young Son (fluit)
  • Lindelani Lee (perkussie)
  • Takalane Maraba (trompet)

MIAGY ORKES

WINTER CONCERT

This event is becoming a must-attend event in the Pro Arte Alphen Park calendar, and this year the Art and Music Departments hosted two evenings of art, music and good food in Burgundy’s at Brooklyn. Both evenings were sold out, and the senses were enthused by the best that both departments could offer.

UNISA

Thembi Maswanganye passed her grade 6 practical examination with distinction – and this after only 2 ½ years of playing! Well done!

EISTEDDFOD

Many music learners participated in the Pretoria eisteddfod during August, with many outstanding results. Lunga Mndau only started piano in grade 8, and this year he was already awarded category winner – we are proud of you!

UP LUNCH HOUR CONCERT

The Music Department was invited to perform in a lunch hour concert at the University of Pretoria on 20 October, and we are very proud to be part of this selected group of people to perform in this venue. Congratulations to all who performed – you kept the Pro Arte banner high.

FINALLY
